RV camping at Mount Rainier National Park

Mount Rainier states no electrical, water or grey water hookups in any campground, and its only RV dump station, at Cougar Rock, is closed until further notice.

Plan a Mount Rainier trip around your tanks and locate a dump station outside the park before you arrive. Do not assume you can empty on site.

Getting there

Mount Rainier National Park is reached by road. No ferry means the 7 foot 2 inch height band never applies, which removes between $93.80 and $513.50 from a round trip compared with the island destinations.

Which rental suits it

The tightest published cap at Mount Rainier National Park is 27 feet for a motorhome and 18 feet for a trailer. On median length, 3 of 5 classes clear it: camper van at 19 ft, class b motorhome at 20 ft, class c motorhome at 25 ft.

On median length these do not: travel trailer at 24 ft, class a motorhome at 32 ft. Individual listings vary, so check the specific rental rather than the class.

How this was measured. Joined the park's hookup and dump status against the trailer caps at each campground. With no dump station in the park and no hookups anywhere, the binding constraint on trip length is tank capacity, not campsite availability. 0 of 4 Mount Rainier campgrounds offer hookups and 0 dump stations are open in the park, so tank capacity alone sets how many nights you get. Not sure what fits?

Send us the dates and the destination. We will come back with rentals whose published length clears the campground, and what the ferry charges to carry them.
